چکیده

A number of the components of the tissues contain in their molecules either phosphoric or sulfuric acid. The phosphoric acid radicle is contained in the monoand polynucleotides, and the sulfuric acid radicle in chondroitinand mucoitin-sulfuric acids. In all these compounds the acid radicle is linked in ester form to either a carbohydrate or a polyhydric alcohol. On long acquaintance with substances of this character, one comes to realize that the inorganic radicle is linked in different substances of the same group with different degrees of firmness. Thus, for instance, in inosinic and uridinphosphoric acids on one hand, and in guanylic on the other; in chondroitin-sulfuric on one hand, and in mucoitin sulfuric on the other, the organic acids display different degrees of resistance towards hydrolytic agents. In compounds such as the ribose nucleotides, two components of the molecule, the sugar, and the inorganic acid, remain constant, and only the third component is variable. It is evident that the firmness of the union between the acid and the rest of the molecule may be conditioned by two factors: the character of the base, and the position of the acid radicle on the sugar molecule. There exists no systematic study of the rate of hydrolysis of ester form derivatives of sugars which have only one point of difference; namely, that of the allocation of the acid radicle. However, in the preparative work on sugar derivatives by Fischer1 and his students, and by Irvine2 and his students, one

Cl . the Phosphoric - Esterase of Blood

IN a previous communication [Martland and Robison, 1924] it was shown that after blood has been laked with distilled water a rapid increase in the amount of inorganic phosphate occurs even at room temperature. The change is still more rapid at 370 but is entirely inhibited when the blood is laked with 1 00 trichloroacetic acid, which indicates that it is due to the enzymic hydrolysis of phospho...

Surfactant-Aided Phosphoric Acid Pretreatment to Enable Efficient Bioethanol Production from Glycyrrhiza Glabra Residue

Glycyrrhiza glabra residue (GGR) was efficiently subjected to concentrated phosphoric acid (PA) pretreatment with/without surfactant assistance, and promising results were obtained following separate enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation (SHF) of the biomass. Pretreatment was carried out using 85 % PA either at 50 or 85 °C with 12.5 % solid loading for 30 min. In parallel experiments, ...

Acid Hydrolysis of Pretreated Palm Oil Lignocellulosic Wastes

Palm oil solid wastes consist of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. In this study, a single stage of acid hydrolysis process of palm oil empty fruit bunch (EFB) for production of fermentable sugar was carried out under moderate temperature (45°C) and ambient pressure. The effect of four different process variables such as solid size, HCl concentration, solid percentage and temperature were in...

Role of Phosphatase Enzymes in Soil

Phosphatases have been extensively studied in soil, as shown by some reviews (Ramirez-Martinez 1968; Speir and Ross 1978; Malcom 1983; Tabatabai 1994), because they catalyse the hydrolysis of ester–phosphate bonds, leading to the release of phosphate (P), which can be taken up by plants or microorganisms (Cosgrove 1967; Halstead and McKercher 1975; Quiquampoix and Mousain 2005). It has been sho...

The rate of enzymic hydrolysis of phosphoric esters by prostatic phosphatase.

Delory & King (1943) published a comparative study of the hydrolysis by faecal alkaline phosphatase of a series of phosphoric esters and established a correlation between the pK values of their second phosphate dissociations, the optimum pH for the enzymic hydrolysis and the Michaelis constants of the esters. They showed that the more acid this phosphate dissociation, the more alkaline was the ...
